What is aromatherapy?

Aroma - therapy, the use of aromatic scents to provide a form of healing. Apart from having a pleasing scent, essential oils have varying properties that can help relieve a variety of conditions.

Some oils will help lower blood pressure whilst others will elevate it. Some oils are said to be helpful in regulating the menstrual cycle and there are oils that will aid concentration, ideal for the exam candidate or during revision. Your therapist will be trained to select oils that will benefit your specific needs.

Like many complementary therapies, aromatherapy aims to treat the whole person rather than the symptom. Your GP, who should not be ignored in favour of complementary therapies, only has time to treat symptoms and cannot afford the time to address all the issues you may bring to a clinic. This is not because they do not care, they do, otherwise they would not be Doctors. Unfortunatley GPs have far too many pressures themselves to provide the holistic treatment that can be offered by complementary therapists.
